Closing Gaps. Opening Doors.
Eyeth Foundation
At Eyeth Foundation, we are dedicated to supporting Deaf people who fall through the gaps of mainstream systems and are not eligible for NDIS and therefore are excluded from services. We aim to create a more inclusive and empowered Deaf community by providing direct support, advocacy, and education. We focus on those most often overlooked – Deaf parents, Deaf refugees, Deaf survivors of family violence, Deaf people experiencing homelessness, and others facing systemic barriers. Through our programs, we offer:
Educational and supportive parenting groups for Deaf parents
Liaison support for navigating courts and essential services
Culturally safe and accessible advocacy for vulnerable community members
Training for police, family violence services, and refugee services to improve Deaf awareness, accessibility and communication
Dedicated spaces for connection and support through men’s and women’s groups
Eyeth Foundation stands for equity, dignity, and the right of every Deaf person to thrive with full access, respect, and support.
It all begins with a Deaf story
Eyeth Foundation is named after a well-known Deaf Folktale. A story about another planet called Eyeth. Eyeth is not just a name — it’s a vision, a symbol, and a dream born from the heart of Deaf culture. The word "Eyeth" is a play on the word "Earth". In sign language, "Earth" is often signed with two hands representing the world — but "Eyeth" reimagines a world where vision is at the center. Instead of the hearing-centric world we live in, Eyeth is a world that orbits around the eye, not the ear — a planet where sign language, visual communication, and Deaf culture are the norm. It is a utopia imagined by the Deaf community — a place where Deaf people are fully included, respected, and empowered. In this ideal world of Eyeth, there are no communication barriers. Access is not an afterthought — it’s embedded in the way society functions. Children grow up with bilingual education in sign language. Services are designed with Deaf people in mind from the start. There is no shame, no exclusion, no being “left out.” Deaf people thrive — as parents, leaders, professionals, creators.
Eyeth Foundation: Bringing Eyeth to Earth
The Eyeth Foundation was born from this vision — but with our feet firmly planted in the real world. We know that many Deaf people here on Earth are falling through the cracks. They are isolated. They are denied support because of rigid systems like the NDIS. They face violence, homelessness, poverty, and discrimination — often in silence, often unseen.Eyeth Foundation exists to close these gaps and open doors. We work alongside those who are too often overlooked:
Deaf parents who need culturally safe support
Deaf refugees and new arrivals trying to navigate complex systems
Deaf people escaping family violence
Deaf individuals sleeping rough or facing housing instability
We create spaces where Deaf people are heard through their eyes, where their language and identity are celebrated — not treated as a barrier. Through advocacy, education, and community connection, we fight for equity, access, and dignity. We are building Eyeth — not as a dream — but as a movement.
